In my previous post, I said I’d be sharing my Word of the Year for 2016. I didn’t plan on choosing it, the word just kind of popped up out of nowhere. You see, after a year of putting fear in its place with the word SECURITY, I was hoping for something light, fun and effortless. So I seriously played around with the word MAGIC. But then on New Year’s Day I woke up and heard the word MOVE like a hundred times. It was in my head, I’d dreamt about it, it was in my conversations, in the blog posts and videos I viewed. It was everywhere. So I gave in to the word and decided to explore what it might have in store for me and here’s what I came up with (in a nutshell of course):
a. Prepare my family for a MOVE. We’ve been wanting to find a new home for quite some time. We want more space for our growing family and want a shorter commute for my husband. So in addition to popping into open houses I’ll be getting rid of unwanted stuff and making small home improvements throughout this year to get us ready.
b. MOVE my body into greater health. Initially I thought this meant lots of long, hardcore exercises everyday. However two weeks into the year I’ve had some health awakenings that have actually been showing me that I need to slow down and take up more gentle ways of moving in 2016. I’ll actually be starting physical therapy soon to heal my rotator cuff. So my first lesson of the year is that I have to MOVE at a pace that is right for me (and my family).
c. MOVE closer to God and allow Him to bring us closer as a family. I’ve lived long enough know I have to make room in my plans for the things I can’t see or anticipate, the big picture things, the things that are eternal and not material. The choosing of a word is a very spiritual practice for me, there is always a beautiful story unfolding in this life. If we slow down we can be co-authors with the ultimate Storyteller.
d. MOVE forward as a creative. The other area I’m hoping to see more movement in is my creativity. I’m hoping to complete and share more of my creative projects. I’ve realized its the only way I’ll grow as an artist. So get ready for sketches on Instagram, poetry and books people, I’m dusting the old drafts off one by one and sharing them with the world. First in line of course is the e-course I’ve been working on Organic Baby Care on Any Budget. I think you’re really going to like it if you’ve ever wanted a step by step guide on how to go organic without completely overwhelming yourself. So stay tuned.
e. I will also be blogging about MOVING through the 10 Building Blocks of Organic Baby Care. I’m going to try picking one building block each month and letting it be the theme for what I post about to help you move forward in your goals to go organic with your baby. First up is a post about Baby’s Mama. That’s you! We’ll be talking about self care practices because its hard to focus on caring for others when you aren’t taking care of yourself. So watch out for my next post.
Do you have a Word of the Year for 2016? If so I’d love to hear what it is and what you hope it might invite into your life in 2016. Tell me in the comments.
Until the next time,
