Organic Baby Apparel:
Creating a Functional and Fashionable Layette

Whether you're registering for organic baby apparel or transitioning from a conventional wardrobe to organic and natural fiber clothing for your baby, deciding what you need can be overwhelming.

  • Baby Kimonos (side snapping outfits) are great for babies that don't like clothes going over their head. You can find kimono style pj sets, tees, bodysuits and dresses.

  • Your baby will grow out of clothes every two to three months, so register for larger sizes to last you throughout your baby's first year.

  • Keep in mind the changing seasons as you pick the larger sizes.

  • Pick solid color tees, leggings and bodysuits for layering and mixing and matching.

  • Read the labels for organic certification. Sometimes organic materials make up only a percentage of the garment.

  • If the merchant makes them available, don't forget to read the reviews before purchasing.

  • Target sells organic baby clothes. You may find the selection is larger online. If you already planned to register there, type in organic baby and add some organic apparel to your list.

  • Babies R US, another popular US baby registry, has an organics section on its website and sells organic clothing lines, linens and bathing essentials.
