Miessence ® Skin Care For Babies:
Product Review of Baby Range

The Organic & Natural Enterprise (ONE) Group is an Australian company and their products are Australian Certified Organic. Miessence ® is the company's personal skin care label. What makes the Baby Range skin care line unique is that they are also certified by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). On top of that, the packaging is 100% recyclable and is made of non-leaching polypropylene (#5 plastic).

Upon opening the product, the first thing I noticed was it's smell - a blend of vanilla and marshmallows. I'm generally not too keen on fragrances, but this one was nice and mild. I knew I would enjoy using products that smelled a little sweet on my little sweetie. So, after a scan of the ingredient label, my daughter and I got ready for bath time.

Miessence ® Baby Cream Wash

The body wash has a yellowish color and is light in texture. This gentle, low-foaming soap is effective as a body wash and a shampoo.

Ingredients:Water, organic saponified coconut oil, organic saponified olive oil, organic guar gum, organic marshmallow root extract, organic chamomile flower extract, organic calendula flower extract, and organic vanilla extract.

Miessence ® Baby Lotion

The lotion is light, and in my opinion on the watery side (opposed to creamy). I didn't think it was going to keep my daughter's skin hydrated, but I was wrong, it worked. Also to my surprise, was the fact that my husband liked it enough to use it as a hand lotion.

Ingredients:organic aloe vera leaf juice, organic coconut oil, purified water, organic shea fruit butter, sclerotium rolfsii gum, organic sugar-cane ethanol, non-gmo lecithin, organic bitter orange fruit extract, organic calendula flower extract, organic chamomile flower extract, organic marshmallow root extract, organic rosemary leaf extract, organic, and vanilla extract.

Of this ingredient list all were familiar with the exception of a couple. Sclerotium rolfsii gum is described as a natural thickener on the company's website. Non-gmo lecithin is also used as a thickener in cosmetics and is a natural plant phospholipid from non-genetically modified soybean oil. The Miessence ® website has an ingredient glossary for other terms that might be unfamiliar to you.

Baby Diaper Balm

I was afraid I wouldn't have much to say about the diaper balm, because we rarely experience diaper rash. However, oddly enough my daughter had a rash around the time we were trying the product. It wasn't extreme, but her skin was obviously red and irritated. I put it on after her bath and the next morning her rash had cleared. The balm is a light ointment that comes in a jar. It can also be used as a lip balm and to soothe little cuts and burns.

Ingredients:organic sunflower seed oil, organic unrefined beeswax, organic coconut oil, organic shea fruit butter, organic avocado fruit oil, oat kernel flour,organic carnauba wax, organic calendula flower extract, organic chamomile flower extract, organic marshmallow root extract, carrot seed extract, and organic rosemary leaf extract.

Baby Bottom Cleansing Gel

I still don't understand how this product works, but it's cool. It's a solution you use with washable cloth wipes to clean your baby's diaper area. You can rinse with water if you need to, but it does not make your baby's skin sticky.

Ingredients: organic aloe vera leaf juice, purified water,organic sunflower seed oil, yucca extract, organic bitter orange fruit extract, sclerotium rolfsii gum, organic marshmallow root extract, organic chamomile flower extract, organic calendula flower extract, and organic vanilla extract.

My Recommendations

Overall, I like the Miessence ® Baby Range products. None of the line irritated my baby's skin. They smell good and they do what the labels say they will do. I am especially impressed with the diapering products because they are fairly unique to the marketplace.

While this baby skin care line is priced significantly above competitive products, this is the perfect line for a mom looking for a luxurious way to pamper her baby. All in all, I would use each of the of the above products on any baby with normal skin that has had time to acclimate to it's surroundings (four months and up).

Miessence ® does have some organic baby products that we didn't review like the baby powder, baby bottom mist and the belly and breast balm for moms.
