We sampled the diapering products by LuSa Organics and here's what we think:
This product is a fragrant balm for the bottom. Goes on light and easy and be used to moisturize other body parts.
Ingredients: *Olive oil, *jojoba oil, local beeswax, *avocado oil; flowers of *calendula, *lavender, and *chamomile; essential oil blend (lavender, patchouli, peru balsam, and chamomile), tocopherol (vitamin e); and grapefruit seed extract, citric acid, and silver citrate (natural preservatives).
The baby wipe juice is by far my favorite LuSa Organics product. I'd never thought about making my own wipes before but this makes it easy.
You simply mix a tablespoon of the solution with water and pour it over your organic cotton wipes. We don't have an abundance of those so we used paper towels torn into rectangle pieces.
My baby's wipes smell good (especially wonderful after a poopy diaper) and don't contain parabens, phthalates and other ingredients I can't pronounce like the conventional ones do.
Ingredients: Witch hazel distillate, *olive oil, *avocado oil, *aloe vera juice, *calendula flowers, *lavender flowers, polysorbate-20 (an olive oil and sugar based emulsifier), *chamomile flowers, essential oil blend (lavender, patchouli, peru balsam, and chamomile), tocopherol (vitamin e); grapefruit seed extract, citric acid, and silver citrate (natural preservatives).
This potion didn't turn my two year old into a sleeping beauty. It may work like magic for a smaller child. However, rule out any allergies or sensitivities to the essential oils before applying fully according to the directions.
Ingredients: *Jojoba oil; essential oils of lavender, tangerine, chamomile, and ylang ylang; and tocopherol (vitamin e).
I tried one and these are nice. The appropriate thickness and texture for a wipe. They are also unbleached.
"Regarding certification, we have made every effort to acquire ingredients from Certified suppliers, but made the decision to not certify our line because at the time of its launch approximately 70% of our sales were of soap, a product that until recently was not certifiable.
As our baby line has rapidly been embraced by a well educated consumer base, we've revisited the subject of certification and are in contact with MOSA regarding taking up this task in the coming months. It is beyond the scope of our budget for this year but our goal is to be certified by 2010."
I think I said it all above. You'll find some good alternatives to conventional diapering solutions with Lusa Organics.
I don't normally review skin care products unless the whole product has organic certification (vs. individual ingredients) or pending certification.
However, the founder's commitment to pursuing certification, along with a sensible list of ingredients and the uniqueness that these organic diapering products bring to the market place makes me want to keep my eye on this company.
