HappyBaby Book Spotlight:
The Organic Guide to
Baby's First 24 Months

Happybaby Book

If there's one thing you and I have in common as parents I'm sure it's the fact that we are juggling lots of responsibilities; in other words we are almost always busy. That's one of the reasons I created Organic Baby Resource, to help other parents have access to the same information about organic baby care without spending lots of time hunting for it.

I received a copy of another resource that may interest you, HappyBaby: The Organic Guide to Baby's First 24 Months. The book is written by the founders of the organic baby food company HappyBaby, Robert W. Sears, MD, FAAP and Amy Marlow, MPH, RD, CDN.

Like me, you may not have the time to read a book from cover to cover, but having a good resource on hand to refer to when you're going through one phase or another can be a lifesaver.

Here are a couple of handy features contained in the HappyBaby book:

Chapter 10 contains a checklist for a healthy toddler and baby: 1. a healthy and green diet (working on it) 2. Daily physical activity ("already" I thought, we better get on it") 3. healthy responses to stress and strong emotional healthy (check, most of the time), 4. Good hygiene (doing our best) and 5 Sufficient sleep (working on it). That chapter alone gives me a lot to contemplate as we navigate through the Terrific Twos.

Dr. Bob Sears also weighs in on topics like toddler TV watching, hiding veggies in meals and the best place for baby to sleep. You'll also find Green Tips throughout the book and lots of information on baby and toddler feeding.

Keep in mind that while this book is written from a pediatric perspective, it is also authored by a major manufacturer of frozen baby food. Thus far I'm finding it to be a handy resource to draw upon as I like mixing my mama (and daddy's) instincts with natural-focused medical advice.
