Do You Patch Test Your Organic Baby Skin Care?

by Erika
(Organic Baby Resource)

We often try out new baby skin care products and now that my daughter is getting older I sometimes forget to do a patch test, taking for granted that there are no allergies to the ingredients in the products.

But many parents I talk to in conversations or in forums do experience allergic reactions. So I thought I'd pose this question and issue a reminder to apply a small amount of a product in the first 24 hours to see if there are any breakouts indicating an allergy.

You should do this even if the product is 100% organic because allergies to natural, food grade ingredients are common.

So do you patch test even when you're excited to try a new skin or hair care product? What types of ingredients have you discovered your child is allergic to? What types of products ended up working for you?

If you have an answer that would be helpful to other parents wanting to avoid toxins AND allergic reactions please chime in with a comment.
