BumGenius 3.0 Product Review

by Rachel
(McKinney, TX)

Bum Genius diapers are cute and user-friendly.

"My husband changes the BumGenius diapers with no problem and even my mother loves them!"

When I decided to explore cloth diapers, my husband was a little hesitant without really understanding what the market offers. When I showed him the BumGenius brand online, he was intrigued.

We attended a cloth diapering workshop and learned about all the different cloth diapers that are currently offered; pre-folds, one-size, covers, all-in-ones, the list goes on and on!! There are so many different products with different methods and sizes - it was a little overwhelming!

When we learned about the BumGenius 3.0 one-size, we knew this was the diaper we wanted to try. I didn't want a cloth diaper which would require me to buy several diapers in different sizes as well as covers - that was just too much for me to keep up with!

The BumGenius diaper grows with your child so you only have to buy one set. It comes with two different size inserts - one for newborns and a larger one that has two size settings for when your little one grows.

Changing them is just as easy as disposables - we remove the soiled diaper, roll it up and fasten (as we did with disposables) and store them in the diaper pail.

When it's time to wash, we just get out our plastic gloves, start the washer, open up each of the diapers, remove the insert and drop them into the wash - so easy! (It will be slightly different if you don't breastfeed.)

One thing you have to remember is to fasten the velcro tabs to the laundry tabs on the inside of the diaper. If you don't, the velcro tabs will lose their ability to stick.

We haven't had that problem, but we know it's a potential one that can be avoided. They do require two wash cycles (cold, then hot) with an extra rinse after the hot cycle.

They dry rather quickly in the dryer, but we actually put a clothesline up outside and dry them that way. If there are any stains on the inserts, it only takes a little time in the sun for them to clear up.

We absolutely love them! My husband changes the BumGenius diapers with no problem and even my mother loves them! The colors are really cute too. We have been recommending them to everyone that is interested in cloth diapers.
