As a new stay at home mom with a husband who's job had been downsized, I had lots of time to dwell on these things during my daughter's first year. I worried about my ability to continue to stay home with her, how to pay monthly premiums for health insurance, and when I could possibly begin to save for her college.

In other words, my chain of decision making had left me with some grim imagery of my daughter's future. In addition to creating a foundation for my child's health, I wanted to build a strong financial legacy for my children. However, we were quickly spiraling in a different direction.

That's when I turned to an unconventional solution that could help my husband and I achieve the dreams we had for our family. Enter Site Build It! (SBI), the tool I used to start my very own business from home.

Changing Our Course

Of course the biggest rewards thus far are not monetary. I have the freedom to balance my work schedule with caring for my growing daughter each day. We do our best to balance fun, learning and work. Being a work at home mom isn't easy, but it feels right and worth the sacrifices we are making in the short term.

I am also thoughtful of the legacy of entrepreneurship that I will pass along to my children. The financial empowerment and personal freedom it will afford them is worth gold.
