Product Review: Pediped ™ Baby Shoes

Performance Rating: 4.5 out 5 stars

Pediped baby shoes are soft and flexible.

We did not own one pair of fitting baby shoes when my daughter started walking at 10 months. I wasn't terribly concerned, because I was familiar with current pediatric and podiatrist recommendations that going barefoot longer is better.

However, I quickly discovered that a bare feet, walking baby isn't always practical on outings. So we started searching for shoes.

I chose Pediped ™ shoes because they are made of non-toxic leather and I liked the versatility of the design. The shoes are casual enough to go with shorts and pants, but the Mary Jane shape makes them work with her sun dresses.

We chose the pink and blue Janine shoe from the Originals™ line. For growing toddlers they have a thicker sole shoe called Flex ™.

The baby shoes are soft and flexible like moccasins, but have a thicker leather bottom that seems to be withstanding the outdoor wear. They have many choices for both boys and girls.

Pedi ped baby shoes are a good fit. One word of caution is to read and follow the sizing chart. I ordered my daughter a size too big, thinking her feet were larger than most babies her age.

I also wanted her to have a little room to grow. Unfortunately, it was too much room.

The shoes already accommodate for the growth spurt and are sized to fit the larger end of the age range. It's worth the extra few seconds to measure your baby's feet.

My daughter's favorite aspect of the shoe is the velcro strap. She chews them (when I'm not looking). I have to let the straps dry before the velcro will work again. It's a good thing Pediped™ shoes do not contain lead and other harmful substances.

Their website says they undergo the same testing as the British and European Safety Standard for toys even though the company is based in Nevada.

My Recommendation:

At $30, you get a good value from Pediped ™ shoes. The company makes a quality shoe that combines flexibility and durability. They are perfect for protection from the elements without hindering the development of your child's feet. The biggest challenge I had with Pedipeds ™ was choosing between all of the cute styles.

I plan to order more pairs for different occasions and as my daughter's feet continue to grow.
