Organic Baby News, Issue #010 -- Loving Your Baby's Feet
February 06, 2009
Hello,

Organic Baby News is the free, monthly newsletter distributed by Organic Resource, the practical guide to organic baby care.

Happy February! The theme this month is Loving Your Baby's Feet. Valentine's Day is approaching and you've probably got the other parts covered with love, but don't forget about your little one's feet.

In This Issue:

Organic Baby Business of The Month:
Heart and Sole

The Organic Baby Business of the Month is Heart and Sole, the foundation created by the owners of Robeez soft sole baby shoes.

Heart and Sole provides shoes for disadvantaged children world-wide. Since it was founded in 2003, the company has donated more than 160,000 pairs of shoes to children that would otherwise go barefoot.

Most recently, during the 2008 Season of giving, the foundation partnered with Kids in Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.) to distribute more than $250,000 in Robeez footwear to infants living in poverty.

To learn more about Heart and Sole and or support the worthy cause visit Robeez.com.

In light of this month's theme, I couldn't resist sharing this sweet photo submitted by Tara, one of our mommy readers as part of her review of Robeez Heart Boots.

Product Review of the Month:
Bobux Toddler Shoes

Is your toddler on the move? If so you're probably looking at shoes with a more substantial sole for outdoor walking - yet you don't want them too hard right? Bobux, makes a line of natural rubber shoes that are just perfect for this phase. We bought a pair and share our experiences with them on this page.

Saying "I Love You" with a Baby Foot Massage

A foot massage can be a relaxing treat after a soothing bath. It can add warmth and circulation to your baby's cold feet and it can work to calm a fussy teething little one. If your baby is three months and older, follow these steps and watch your baby smile:

  1. Put a small amount of your favorite organic baby massage oil in your hands. Olive oil will work just fine if you don't have one.

  2. Lay your baby on his (or her) back and hold the his big toe and the little toe with your forefingers and thumbs. Gently spread the toes open - like a fan.

  3. Take one of your baby's feet in both of your hands. Massage the sole. Then press around the base joint from where the toes emerge.

  4. On the same foot, take each toe and glide it through your thumb and forefinger, pulling gently.

  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 on each foot as often as your baby likes while singing, talking or laughing with him.
Do you want to learn more about the art of infant massage? The Book of Baby Massage: For a Happier, Healthier Child will introduce you to the many benefits of infant massage and show you how to apply your loving touch from your baby's head to his toes.
